    Other Good Food Websites

    My Favorite Cookbooks

  • The Joy of Cooking -- Yes, really. My SO and I use this book more than all our other cookbooks combined. (I use the old edition, the New Edition is controversial and seems to be quite different.)

  • Out of Our Kitchen Closets: San Francisco Gay Jewish Cooking -- After Joy of Cooking, my SO uses this book more than any other. Despite its being an anthology put together by a local group, it is well done and the recipes are solid.

  • Jewish Holiday Kitchen, by Joan Nathan -- I use this book every time I want the classic recipes for basic Jewish foods (for most dishes she gives several possible recipes). Some historical commentary. She also wrote The Jewish Holiday Baker and Jewish Cooking in America.

  • Country Life Vegetarian Cookbook: Delicious Recipes from the Kitchens of the Country Life Vegetarian Restaurants -- Great vegan cookbook, I used to use it all the time when I was allergic to dairy. Really good innovative recipes. See my review.
