Lisa Beside Me

Your hand heavy beneath mine,
Rooted to its center between
My navel and palm.
You stir, still unaware of all
Beyond maddening dreams.
I keep your hand fast
In alignment with mine
Until you are lulled back into sleep

I shut my eyes and climb
Out of my body into yours.
Through your mouth I enter,
Seep as vapor through pores,
Slip under fluttering lids.

Your dreams are of fire
Smooth circles of flame in the sky
Crackling eruptions of earth
Bodies that long to ignite.

Soundlessly, I creep further
Entering your heart and warming
Myself through your veins.
I am neither sun nor rain.
I am like the moon.
Love, beneath your hand,
Above the sky.
